For the first Liv Letters blog, I would like to reflect upon all of our legendary moms who have helped shape Mommy and Me Cancer Foundation. Without their input or their stamp on this profound organization, we would not have the programs and support systems we offer today.
"Liv Letters" was a program designed to allow our moms to share their daily experiences with each other through letters. Our moms have not utilized the program as much, so the program is now shifting to a blog with Liv, the Lead Beneficiary Advocate. In the blog we will share what our moms would like our followers to know such as the most common side effects, the best tasting antioxidants, frustrations with raising minor children while being ill, and more. Stay tuned for our first few entries this week.
Dear MAMCF Community,
We are happy to announce that on November 22, 2013, the United States Internal Revenue Service approved Mommy and Me Cancer Foundation, Inc. as a 501(c)(3) recognized charitable non-profit organization. This process was tedious, but possible because of our talented team of attorneys, executive staff and dedicated volunteers. TY
This will allow us to apply for grants from public and private institutions, as well as make all your contributions to the organization tax deductible, retroactive to March 7, 2013
They are motivated to learn, evolve, work hard and suffer through pain to gain. They are just like our MAMCF moms. Check out some of my favorite quotes from sports legends….
An athlete cannot run with money in his pockets. He must run with hope in his heart and dreams in his head. Emil Zatopek
The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person’s determination.Tommy Lasorda
What makes something special is not just what you have to gain, but what you feel there is to lose. Andre Agassi
In a show of great community support and a celebration of life, over 200 people were in attendance at the inaugural Mommy and Me Cancer Foundation Gala this past Saturday in Brea, CA. The event, which raised awareness and support for mothers who have cancer and are also raising minor children, was the culmination of hard work and dedication by MAMCF founders Jennifer Boyd and Sean O’Neill.
I can not explain the feeling I felt meeting Monica. She is our youngest mom at 25 years old. She is battling Ovarian cancer that has spread throughout her body including liver and kidney. Although I was so excited she joined MAMCF, I was sad to see her pain. Her little 4 year old ran around the house clueless, cute and happy. I told Monica that she will be leaving her stamp on this earth now that she has joined MAMCF. She has followers like yourself that now support her. Monica, along with our other moms need assistance with sky rocket medical bills.
We are in close contact with the Moms and their families. We have already provided some assistance with medical expenses, provided products to help alleviate chemo side effects, and supplied nutritional information and supplies. Psi Bands gave our moms complimentary Psi Bands to help with nausea. Psibands.com We have further developed our foundation programs for the Moms such as “Adopt a Mom” program and have confirmed the first Mommy Luncheon. Our team is working diligently to make our upcoming fundraiser on June 8th a success so that we can further assist our Moms and their children.
In less than 3 months, we were able to accomplish our goals of launching our organization and initiating the support programs for mommies with cancer. In a short amount of time we have gathered a tremendous amount of support. We officially became incorporated on March 7, 2013. Sean and I worked diligently to create our logo with @MaratMychaels (artist) and Chris T. (web developer). We worked on the creation of MAMCF every single day and night. We worked countless hours setting up the platform to support our MAMCF “moms”.
